Can I possibly give KAPATAD 10 stars? Because I 100% would.... A few years ago, I went to the Philippines for work and fell in... love with the food. I was so excited when I heard there was a legitimate Filipino restaurant opening in Austin even if itwasn't in my neighborhood. My boyfriend, his mom, and I came here for a late lunch one weekend. I ordered the Beef Kare Kare(something I remembered loving during my work trip). It was everything I had remembered. The peanut flavor matched with thetender beef so nicely. They even served it the traditional way with a side of salty, savory shrimp paste. Yum!! Myboyfriend's mom isn't a terribly adventurous eater so she got the Beef and Shrimp off of the Chinese menu. It was actuallyreally special and delicious. It came with a sizzling mushroom oyster sauce which really made the dish. Finally, my boyfriendgot the Crispy Pata. This is a monster pork knuckle that's been slow roasted for hours then deep fried at the end to make itnice and crispy on the outside. It's served with some kind of soy based sauce of ultimate flavor. This dish really stole theshow and I couldn't recommend it more. Outside of the food, the restaurant is cozy with a hole-in-the-wall feel. The staff wassuper friendly and attentive during our entire meal. We literally cannot wait to come back and try more great Filipino foodfrom KAPATAD. Read more

Everyone in the office wanted to try something new and we were recommended to try this restaurant. We called in our order and it... was ready in 20 minutes. We got the beef kare kare with tripe, one without tripe, crispy tofu with broccoli, palobok, lumpia, and a halo halo. The service there was amazing, the workers were so nice and the place looked busy Friday lunch time. Thelumpia?s were so long and tasty, the kare kare was nutty and delicious with rice. Everything we ordered was good. The halo halowas huge! Definitely try this place out if you want some yummy Filipino food! Read more

Coming from Alaska this place was the first Filipino restaurant we visited in Texas. Funny thing was I thought they mispelled... Kapatad cause I thought it should be Kapatid but stupid me it's kapampangan not tagalog. Anyway this place is great! Food aredelicious, Service was promt and the Staff were very polite. Along with the traditional pilipino food they also serve Chinesefood. If there is one must try in these delightful restaurant. I would say........ ALL OF THEM! Read more

It was our second time eating in this place, you get this barangay festival vibe when dinning. It's fun and we had great time,... the servers and staff are very kind. Although, it was full house when we were there the food were served right away. The over anhour drive was worth it, however; wish they offer sinigang or any type of Filipino traditional soup. Overall, this place ishighly recommended. Read more

Came for dinner during the week while visiting Austin for a show. It was shortly after opening, so there were only a few... guests, but it quickly became over half full within 30 minutes. As soon as we walked in, all the employees happily greeted usand had us seated. Everyone was very happy, friendly, and very helpful, especially Jasper. One side of the menu is Filipinofood while the other side is Chinese food, but only saw people ordering the Filipino food. There's also a specials board thathas items not listed on the daily menu. While I was looking over the menu, started off with their Peach-Mango lemonade and anorder of 6 Lumpiang Shanghai (Lumpia). Drink arrived within a minute and the Lumpia arrived within 10 minutes straight out thefrying pan. For the meals, ordered family style, so ordered the Half Crispy Chicken, Sizzling Pork Sisig, and the Palabok fromthe specials board. Everything arrived together within 10-15 minutes. Having recently visited the Philippines, this was thereal deal. Every detail from the Crispy Chicken with banana ketchup, to the Sisig with the egg, and to the Palabok withChicaron was perfect. Presentation was perfect and it tasted equally as delicious. For my favorite, it's a close tie betweenthe Palabok and the Sisig. The portions were perfect for sharing. To closeout the meal, ordered the Halo-Halo and the BukoPandan. Similar to the meals, both of these were very authentic and very good. The Halo-Halo is made with their homemade icecream and had too many ingredients to list and each bite was a surprise flavor. The Buko Pandan was full of young coconut andjelly cubes. On my next trip to Austin, will definitely come back to Kapatad for both the service and the food. Read more
