Stopped in here for dinner this evening. When I entered, the host noted I was walking with a cane and told me to sit wherever... I'd be comfortable. I appreciate this as many times I get walked all over the restaurant to be sat at a table. In this case Idid choose to sit in the main dining room. For 7:30 on a Friday evening, this place wasn't super busy, but active none theless. When the waitress came to my table I ordered the El Grandote margarita. I typically don't drink flavored margaritas, butI opted for the strawberry one. The drink was quite tasty. While deciding what to order for dinner, the waitress brought chipsand salsa. I found the salsa to have an excellent, peppery taste to it. While some reviewers said it was too watery, I found itto be a decent consistency with an appropriate amount of liquid in it. If all I had was the margarita and the salsa it'd havebeen a good dinner. When it came time to order I was torn between the brisket enchiladas or the shrimp enchiladas. I asked thewaitress for her recommendation, she quickly responded that i should go with the brisket enchiladas. Once my food arrived and Igot a taste of the enchiladas I knew why she recommended them. The brisket was incredibly moist with a nice smokey flavor to it.I found the rice on the plate to be seasoned well and was light and fluffy. The refried beans were also seasoned well. I did mixsome salsa into both to give them a bit of a bite. Overall my meal was excellent and hit the spot. The drink was tasty as well.Customer service was excellent from the host to the waitstaff. I will definitely be back to try more menu items! Hats off tothe kitchen staff for some amazing brisket which I was told is made in house. The food and drinks are always great at El Mercado! The Hot Latin Kisses were delish with the cilantro sauce. The beef fajitas... in the taco salad were soft and moist, not chewy or dry. The flan could've used a little more of the sauce, but still creamy andyummy. One of my biggest pet peeves is the check being brought to the table without confirmation that there are no more orders.We got the ticket while still eat our entree, but we wanted dessert and more drinks. While I understand it's not a big problem,and they can easily add to our tab... as a patron, it feels rude and rushed. As a server, that's not what I wanted my customersexperiencing. Read more
I went here for the first time on a random weekday and it was surprisingly busy and packed! The service here great, the server... was friendly and conversational. He did a great job taking orders and getting it done quick as well. All the food came outcorrectly. I got the brisket enchiladas and they were good. The only thing I would have to critique about it was the enchiladaswere slightly cold. I wish they would've been bit more hot. The Mexican rice was great, super tasty. Read more
Not terrible, but not great either. Salsa had potential, but was just too watery. Chips weren't super fresh and probably not... made in restaraunt but they weren't bad either. Staff was incredibly friendly though. The rice was actually very good, but theburrito was kinda meh, not disgusting, but not very tasty. This restaurant is right there in the middle, I'm ok with coming backbut would choose somewhere else first. One big plus was that they actually do refill your salsa, and they refill it quickly.
