I?m mad at myself for just trying Conan?s for the first time. First of all the place looks awesome. The booths have so much... character and it?s fun to just hang out. Next is the people working there are super friendly and fun. We got the cheese garlicbread as an appetizer and I could of ate five more plates of it. The bread was soft and had lots of flavor. Today I found out this 47 year old Austin institution which is family owned just recently passed to the sons and daughter of the... owner. We have lived in Austin 17 years and it hasn?t changed. It is covered with Conan the Barbarian photos and other comicdecor. The food is really good. First the cheese bread is not what you would expect or the cheese sticks. This local pizza chain was an amazing experience. First it's hard to find good Chicago style deep dish in Texas. Most places... just make the crush extra thick and call it deep dish, as you can see by the photos this is not the case. When we arrived wewere helped at the counter by Moon. I think they recognized the look in our eyes and our inexperience at Conans and gently ledus to some great pizza choices. Even sharing a few menu "hacks" along the way. The wheat crust pizza was also recommended asbeing "what they are known for" so of course we had to try it. We are so glad we did and will definitely be back. The decor haspaintings from or inspired by Frank Frazetta and they added some awesome '80s flare to the decor. We ordered some pizza rollswith some oregano on top and you can see from the photo they were stuffed with some insanely stringy tasty mozzarella. Thepizza though was the star of the show. We ordered a Savage (basically a supreme) and it was piled high with toppings with thesauce on top (as Moon suggested). All in all one of the best pizza's I've ever had. Read more
Some of the comments said bland so I was a little worried but I was not disappointed. The pizza was good and i liked the little... intimate tucked away booths. Great for my date -the pic is from my social media too lazy to send it to my phone to upload(pepperoni and sausage deep pan) Read more
I ordered the ?meat lovers? pizza and cheesy bread which was fresh and super good. However, they did take about an hour to have... it ready, but it is what to be expected since they do mention that they are under staffed and will take a while. Read more
I wanted to like this place. I *really* did. Walking in and see the video games (Area 51! My favorite!), and seeing Star Wars... playing on the TV--this place is calling my name. There are multiple seating areas, some elevated, some on the regular floor,and some toward the back. Keeps the restaurant from having massive noise. We ordered a deep dish pizza and a thin crust. Wedidn't mind the wait--fresh pizza is always worth the wait. When we checked our order, the pizzas looked great, so we headedhome. That's when it all went downhill. After eating one slice of each, we realized the problem. It's all about the sauce. Ourpizzas were bland. Scraping the sauce off improved the thin crust pizza. That crust is great. But for the deep dish, that wasa disaster. Such a disappointment. Read more
