I was in Austin for the weekend and found the Asia Cafe online because it had good reviews. Unfortunately, someone painted the... entire shopping center black. I guess they got a special on cheap black paint. I almost turned around as that look is not at allinviting but I was there so gave it a try. It is a very basic restaurant, nothing fancy which is fine. Just order at thecounter. I ordered the Spicy Chicken and it was spicy! It was made to order and the service was very fast. The order was largeenough to take about half home which is seen in the take out box. Yes, that is half of the serving. I came back the next day andordered the Mongolian Lamb. It was extremely tender and overall very good. Read more

I've been coming here for years, everything prior to Covid was better than good and the prices were cheap, and food came out... super fast. The restaurants dine in service had been closed through out covid so I'm happy that it has finally opened up,that's 2 yrs of waiting people!! The self service ice and water is gone. If you want a drink you have to buy them, which arealmost 4 bucks for everything, I just sneak next door to the market and buy drinks. The cashier thought we didnt pay for ourdrinks but they dont sell Ramune!! The price for food has gone up which is understandable, so all dishes are avg 19 bucks ormore. The food all came out super quickly. Got my fav dishes, Twice cooked fish and Beef and broccoli. The twice cooked wasnot as crispy and the beef and broccoli was a little sweeter than usual, but overall, still the same and satisfied, just alittle more costly. Read more

Very expensive for what you get. The shrimp fried rice was bland. The walnuts in the honey walnut shrimp dish tasted off. The... spicy dumplings and bun were good. I probably won't eat here again. Read more

This is my favorite Szechuan place in Austin. Have been going since it was in the back of the market. This is a big group kind... of place where it?s best to order family style and get little bits of a dozen different dishes, I don?t really like to go withfewer than 6 people. Some favorites are Twice Cooked Fish, Chong Chin Chicken (you have to like eating lots of the red peppers, avoid the the ones that didn?t get deseeded and it?s not too bad), beef with cumin (pretty spicy), Snow pea leaves, Salt &Pepper Eggplant stuffed with Pork, and so many more. I do wish they had a premium green tea offering. Read more

Always great hot and fresh food. I have tried several menu items and have not been let down. If you want something yummy and... healthy I order the steamed shrimp and scallops and veggies ???? and have them add a steamed jalapeno sliced in there if youwant some heat. I had stir fry noodles with chicken shrimp and pork with jalapeno this evening. Read more

I am always satisfied when I come to Asia Cafe. It?s one of the hidden gems in north Austin. The portions are huge! Everything... was seasoned well. We ordered salt &pepper fried tofu, bokchoy with mushrooms, spicy lamb, spicy chicken, and general Tsochicken. One star was deducted for covid precautions. They bring out the food for you, but all of the utensils and plates areplaced on the side for the customers to get on their own. That doesn?t seem safe to me. Also, though the spicy lamb was good, Ididn?t really taste the lamb, and the spicy chicken was kind of a disappointment. However, I had the spicy fish fillet last timeand its delicious! Read more
