First time trying Plates by the Pound...they did not disappoint!! The food is absolutely amazing. The ribs are sooo soft and... flavorful. The loaded potato is in fact super loaded and very tasty, so worth it. I will definitely be going back. Just found out about this place close to me- so made it here this past Saturday- arrived at 1030am - three people in line... already and by the time the door opened there were maybe 20 more behind me. Anyways, all I know about bbq is whether I like itor not. I loved this! I don't really care for saucy bbq so this was perfect- the brisket and ribs are seasoned just right withpepper and the meat really is the star here. Loved the apple coleslaw too. Plan to bring plenty of money as you will probablybuy more than you meant to while you are in line watching the owner slice and weigh each order out! We will be back! Read more
I was able to get in line for the first time before the SOLD OUT sign was placed on the door. I have been trying to get a taste... of your ribs and brisket for weeks. But today I was there at opening!! First of all your customer service and your pleasant tonewith each customer made the wait worthwhile. The ladies working the sides and the register were amazing. Very helpful andfriendly.My favorite were the onions!!! I?m a southern girl and onions go with EVERYTHING!! The food was amazing and I willdefinitely be coming back again. WOW exceptional brisket that was tender with heavily mouth feel. As someone who?s been to Franklins and Blacks in Austin, this... brisket takes the crown as the best I?ve personally had. Looking forward to trying the rest of the menu. Curious as to when theyserve their beef ribs though. Only negative is that they are only open once a week! Read more
***update went back this past Saturday. It's still good. Super happy about this place opening up. Came in on the second day... they were open (open once a week on Saturdays). Wait was only 30 min also worth it. I got the special of the day (beef ribs) andpork ribs and hot links. All of the food was well seasoned, not too salty, nice peppery and smoke flavor. I?ve been dying to try this place! I drove all the way from Englewood and got here at 11:30am. They just sold out ???? owner... Aaron was nice enough to cut up a sandwich for me which was AMAZING. The sides were great- I tried the beans with smoked turkeyand jalapeño corn. This place is super in demand so make sure you arrive no later than 10:30am to get in line for the 11amopening. The staff was friendly. You can tell they really care about what they do. I?m excited to try their soul foodsselections on Sundays. So glad I stopped in. Keep up the great BBQ! Read more
Great Texas BBQ! Smoked beef was juicy and had a great cracked black pepper crust. Pulled pork was tender and juicy -- I barely... had to chew -- and went really well with their hot BBQ sauce. Jalapeño cheddar corn is creamy and the subtle heat really helpedit not be too heavy. Peach cobbler was warm and fresh, great crumble and didn't need the sweetened condensed milk at all. Notethat it's a small shop, counter service and no seating. Menu is small but they have weekly specials, and they're only open untilthey sell out.
