Luck was shining on me today. The wife and I were traveling through Auburn and decided to stop for lunch in Old Town Auburn.... Just as I was turning to leave, a car backed out of a street parking spot. I didn't look a gift horse in the mouth andimmediately parked. I asked the wife where she wanted to go and she said "why not here"? I looked up and saw the front window ofEdelweiss restaurant. Interior was interesting as it tried to be rustic Bavarian. Food was fantastic. Wife ordered a BLT withfries and I ordered an omelette. The BLT came out exactly as the wife ordered. The omelette and hash browns covered the plate.Whole the egg part of the omelette was dry although the interior ingredients were well prepared. Overall a very goodbreakfast/lunch restaurant. We tried this local diner in Auburn after looking at earlier reviews. We went in during the lunch rush and had some slow service... however the food was fantastic. The omelette was my favorite item and was worth the wait. Sandwich was good as well, but Iprefer the breakfast over the lunch. Even with slow service, the staff had great hospitality. Will return again in the off-peakhours. Read more

Fantastic family-run establishment. I chanced upon this place while looking for pre-Tahoe breakfast. I loved it so much I made... it my post-Tahoe meal too. They are known for their omelettes but don?t sleep on the extra thick French toast! The ambience issuper cool, and the place is decked out like your alpine grandma?s mountain retreat living room. The service is warm andattentive and only adds to the homey experience. Can?t recommend enough. Read more
