Not surprised by the low rating. Unnecessarily pretentious energy, mediocre food and dismissive service send this hidden sushi... spot to the bottom of the list. The good: Amazing location, beautiful decor, large menu with many options. The bad: Thebartender putting on a very uncomfortable and obvious “blackccent” when addressing POC guests, cold dishes that should havebeen warm, a required reservation process to sit at an empty bar and lack of fresh sushi ingredients. Every time I'm in Atlanta I need to make a stop at Umi. The staff is incredibly nice and welcoming. The food and drinks are... beyond delicious. One of my favorites is the shrimp tempura. It's impossible to just get one so order two of these (trustme). Dresscode is strictly enforced here so make sure you dress the part. Who knows you might even see a celebrity or two. This was my first time going to UMI. My friend and I each got the chef special Omakase ($200 per person). So underwhelmed. The... quality of fish is sub par for the price. I have had the Omakase at 5 other locations around Atlanta and this was by far theworst. Not a great selection or variety. Server was nice but that’s about it. Read more

We decided to go to Umi based on a friend’s recommendation rather than the negative reviews. I’m so glad we did. We had an... enjoyable time here. The food was really delicious! It is pricey for the amount you get the but the flavors are unique anddelicious. The wait staff was prompt and helpful. We really enjoyed ourselves. Read more

I found it surprising considering the reviews, then on second glance I see most of the... reviews (negative ones) on google do not have photos to reference their experience… perhaps they’re counterfeit?
