They hard the nerve to have a banner up that read that the best cheesesteak is no longer in Philly. Then I was told that they... don?t scoop the roll as I requested. Then it cost $17 and was about 3/4 the size of a really Philly Cheesesteak and with lessmeat. The flavor was good but it didn?t have that Philly taste and didn?t live up to the hype. Read more
3.7 | My friend really recommended this spot for a great burger and fries combo. I enjoyed the burger, I think next time I?ll... try a more substantial one as I just got the regular. I think it?s more smash burger style? but don?t hold me to that. I wouldsay it?s worth a try if you?re in the Krog St area and are craving a good burger but I don?t think I would go out of my way justto have a burger here. With a name like Fred's Meat & Bread, the place better know what they're doing with, well, meat and bread. In other words,... sandwiches. And Fred's Meat & Bread seems to be doing quite well in that area. My wife and I visited Fred's Meat & Bread whilein the Atlanta to catch the Braves vs. Dodgers series. I ordered the Goodfellas Cheesesteak. It comes with ribeye, onions,provolone, tomato, and cherry peppers. It was perfect! The bread was soft and packed with chopped ribeye steak and meltedcheese. The onions were rather thickly sliced, but I enjoyed them that way. My wife ordered the Burger Stack. She said it wasvery good, and especially liked the addition of bread and butter pickles to the burger. We also shared orders of garlic friesand Old Bay fries. Both were delicious! Each came with a sauce, the garlic with ranch and Old Bay with tartar. However, we likedthe taste of the fries so much we ate them without the sauce. Fred's Meat & Bread has limited counter seating, and we enjoyedeating our meal while watching the cooks prepare more Philly cheesesteaks for other customers. As we were sitting there, severalother people noticed our food and asked about it. That's when you know you're doing it right, when people see what comes fromthe kitchen and want it for themselves. Great sandwiches and good fries. They have a good variety of sandwich choices including cheesesteaks and poboys. I wish they... would give you a buzzer once you order since it can take 10+ minutes to prepare your food and they do not have a counter for youto eat at. Finding seating (and parking!) at Krog Street market can be a delicate dance. It would be nice if you could order, gofind a seat and then pick up your food when it's ready instead of just having to stand around and wait. Read more
Their sign says something along the lines of the best Philly is no longer in Philadelphia. A bold statement to make, but they... back it up with one of the best Philly?s I?ve ever eaten. Given the choice between them and Pat?s King of Steaks inPhiladelphia, I think I?d choose Fred?s. The ribeye was tender and flavorful. They seem to mix the steak, peppers, and onions inwith the cheese sauce which is a game changer. It holds everything together nicely and gives you the perfect bite every time.The fries were a bit on the salty side but still delicious. And I realize that salt content is a personal preference. Delicious food! Ate here twice. The second time was even better than the first visit. I had the pimento cheese sanwich with... fried green tomato, bacon, lettuce and arugula. All I have to say is that sandwich was out of this world good. I have also eatenthe tuna sandwich, the Godfather cheese steak and their seriously delicious garlic fries. I think you're going to be stunned athow much flavor is in the food especially the tuna. It's seasoned to perfection. This sandwich spot is a must try in Atlanta. Read more
