I had high hopes for my birthday dinner, but Local 706 made an unfortunate first impression. The service was horrible?granted... only one waitress for about 10 tables?but even before it got busy, she was unprofessional and inattentive. My side of sweetpotato chips were a tiny serving and mostly burnt, and only the burger made this review worth two stars. The price of the mealseemed inflated given the serving size of my family?s meals. We waited way too long for our check?again, because ofunderstaffing which seems to be a universal problem. Even if that?s the case, food shouldn?t be burnt and servers should befriendly. Read more
If I could give less than one star then I would. We got to the restaurant at 5 pm and didn?t get food and drinks until about 7... pm which is ridiculous. The restaurant wasn?t even busy. We got the order then and it was incorrect so we did more waitingbecause of that reason. I was really excited to visit because myself and boyfriend were doing a double date. I?m so disappointedin this experience. Also I felt very out of place lack of diversity our entire three hours in the restaurant. I ordered threetacos and my boyfriend ordered a sandwich with sweet potato tots. The waitress we had was also not friendly and that upset mebecause good customer service is super important to me. Another trip into Athens for therapy... open g-maps for local restaurants.. someplace new wanted... This was a very pleasant... place with friendly service and interesting menu. At 3pm it was very quiet but you can tell they must have busy lunchtimes. Wehad sandwiches and hotdogs, Hawaiian buns are damn good. Waffle fries seasoned & tasty. Place was very clean and well laid outwith adequate seat spacing. Parking out front with only 3 spots but plenty more around back. Decent pricing, large portions.We'll be back. 2nd trip back into town, really starting to enjoy this place. Very clean...again. restrooms damn near spotless.Background Music hip but not overpowering. Appetizer baskets big enough for 3 to 4 people, had to take remaining tots home. Decent bar menu with all the basic drafts plus at least 5 locally brewed ales. The Rooster flatbread is delicious and the sweet potato tots are to die for!! Highly recommend Local 706! Also, The staff is... very sweet and helpful. Great atmosphere Read more

Tried to come for brunch with our daughter before leaving town. The restaurant was empty when we got there. Over the next hour... we watched every table get food -- even outdoor diners who had come much later. It may have been a fluke but I think there isdifferential treatment depending on some external variables and certain types of people get better service. Read more
