You have to get the Rum Yum Yum bread pudding! It is incredible. Best bread pudding of my life-no lie! We also had brisket and... pulled pork with greens, green bean casserole, beans, and potato salad. Everything was delicious and tasted fresh. The staff, especially the manager, was very friendly and everyone seemed happy to be at work. Even the restrooms were clean (always a perk, esp with a baby!). Read more

Food quality is not bad. Brisket is great and juicy. Ribs are a bit of dry and they sold out around 530?. Crazy

I highly recommend! Great local BBQ place downtown for a pretty reasonable price. The run it in a Subway style ordering method,... in that everything takes place at the counter and you communicate what you want on your plate over the glass. Best place so farsince I've been in Athens that has the best Sweet Tea. (Why is it so hard to find GOOD sweet tea up here?!) Will most certainlybe back. Read more

Excellent barbecue! Moist and super tasty. I had the brisket, but our party also had the chicken and the pulled pork. Everybody... really enjoyed the barbecue. We came here at the recommendation of a friend who works here. Ethan. He had told us about thequality of food and we decided to check it out. He was right! The ordering process can be a little daunting for a first timer, but you basically pick out what kind of barbecue you want and then bread/potato and sides. After you get your drink and pickout a table coming there is a bar of different barbecue sauces. Probably 12 or so. I tried three different ones and they wereall great. It's a great place to try out new flavors. The slaw had a vinegary taste, but it was delicious just a little moretangy than I was expecting. But I actually enjoyed it. Fried okra was excellent. There is a lot of seating indoors and anoutside porch. There's also a bar / patio area that looks like it would be fun for a game day. This would be a great place forfamily dinners, groups of friends or a casual date night. I wouldn't do a first date it might be a little too casual... Maybe athird date! There is a good bit of parking, and they seem to own the venue next door. I'm not sure of parking is allowed there. We didn't have an issue. It might get crowded on a game day or weekend night. Thanks again to Ethan for recommending that westop by. Read more

I visited the Saucehouse BBQ restaurant for the first time. I had heard some good things about the restaurant from my... friends. It was awesome!!!!! The food was excellent, and the service was even better! The ribs were perfect, and I mean ?fall off the bone perfect! The pulled pork sandwich was juicy and off the chain good! I truly loved the different sauces -the Pork Sauce was excellent on my pull pork sandwich. The side were great too - Mac and cheese was very good and the greenbeans were tasty. The desserts were very good too - bread pudding!!!!!! Overall - awesome BBQ restaurant. Read more

Saucehouse Barbecue is a rare find! First, I need to share that I worked formally in law enforcement and traveled the U.S.... extensively and had the opportunity to try barbecue from different regions of the United States, especially thesouth. Secondly, I had such a great experience at Saucehouse Barbecue in Athens, GA on 3rd of July and the food wasoutstanding. Third, the barometer for an excellent barbecue restaurant lies in three elements; their choice of sauces (there issomething for everyone at Saucehouse Barbecue, hence the fabulous name, the baked beans (theirs are superb you have the optionof non-kosher or kosher with beef), and the Brunswick stew. Where do I begin, their baked beans are a mixture of kidney, northern, traditional beans and are marinated in their famous sauces and meat (again pork or beef). I tried both and wasastounded by the flavors. The Brunswick stew was a hearty and meaty mixture that was layered with fresh crunchy vegetables thatmust have been blanched in preparation because it really gave the stew a punch. Theirs is so different from other barbecueestablishments in that it was not bland or too salty. They counteracted the salty meat (pork and beef) with the freshestvegetables and the broth was a light concoction of meat broth and tomato goodness. It was so good I ordered a quart to take homefor 4th of July festivities. Additionally, their mac-and-cheese is decadent and can be a meal in of itself. Fourth, I cannotsay enough about the staff, both knowledgeable and polite. The Manager Elliott was so accommodating and professional. Inclosing, I would go out of my way to drive the 2 hours to Athens, GA just to dine at Saucehouse Barbecue and you should too! Read more

Nice ambiance with a patio and a porch as well as ample indoor seating. The menu has a lot of choices and even more choices for... sauces, true to its name. Everything I ate was solid. No complaints. But nothing stood out either with the possible exception ofthe bread pudding. The bread pudding would have been even better with vanilla ice cream I think. Might try that next time. Iwill come back at least once more to try a few more dishes and maybe change my mind and rate them higher than 4 stars ?? ?? ???? Read more
