enjoyed an excellent Cajun dinner tonight at George's. Our party of three also appreciated the excellent service provided by... Jess, our server. As for the atmosphere, I never know what to say. The dining room was very clean, and we enjoyed the bar area. After all, we were there for the food, libations & definitely a great value. Read more

So good. We met a friend for dinner, expecting the typical low country boil, and boy were we surprised! A classy joint with... amazing selections and a Louisiana feel to it. Don't miss the fried green tomatoes. Don't miss the fried okra and pimento. Infact, try everything! It's all good. (I won't try everything; sadly, crawfish is just not my thing!) I had the crabcakes. And Ihad the bread pudding. Oh, my. And now I'm working on replicating the delicious libations, especially the Porch Swing! Read more

I should have taken more pictures! However it is a great dining experience. It is a combination of low country / Cajunesque... food. The crab cakes were excellent, the crawfish etouffee is my regular favorite. The couple with us goes there for oysters onTuesdays. Today they ran out before we got any. So you might want to get there early! The service is super with a friendlygreeting at the door and servers that check on you regularly. The restaurant is very clean and in a fairly new building. Thereis adequate parking in the parking lot adjacent to the building. It could be a pretty good date night and I think they have adate night special on Thursday night for steak lovers. It's not a fancy place, but comfortable and clean. The noise level canget pretty high with conversation around you, but not to the point of yelling. I wouldn't call it a quiet romantic spot but anice place for conversation. Back to the food, All the entrees seem to be pretty good. We asked our friends who were diningwith us and they complimented everything on the menu! My wife had a good crab soup and I had an iceberg wedge salad that wasfresh and tasty. My wife also tried out the dessert some kind of chocolate cake that she was raving about. All in all this isa great local place. Kind of off the beaten path but not out of the way. Certainly worth checking out if you are visiting Athensfor a few days. I would certainly rate it higher than a chain restaurant! Read more

When you have the best meal of 2021 righhhhhht at the very end! We found this hidden jewel George's Lowcountry Table just... outside of Athens, GA. I had the Eggplant Pirogue: Crispy fried eggplant with panko breadcrumbs, generously topped shrimp, crabstuffing, and spicy crawfish étouffée. Hubby had the Carpetbagger: Medium rare ribeye with fried oysters, topped with adelicate bernaise sauce. Served with jo-jo crispy potatoes and sautéed mushrooms. Also, the cheddar biscuits were like light, airy, cheesy pillows of joy! ?? Read more

What a nice surprise! I've been wanting to try this place and finally did. Made reservations and good thing we did it was super... busy especially for a Thurs. The oysters were good. I had the gumbo which was ok probably will not order it again, it seemed tobe missing something. The eggplant pirogue was delicious! I heard several people order the red fish. So many things I want totry! Oh and the cheese biscuits YUM. We'll be back! Read more

We were the last table of the night, showed up right before close. But the staff was fantastic. You would've thought we were... the first table of the night. Great, friendly service. Took advantage of the oyster special on Tuesday nights. I had thescallops and my husband had the red fish. Both were delicious. We enjoyed Whistle Pig Manhattans and they even poured usanother round despite the fact that it was closing time. We'll be back! **edited we've been back and there is a bit ofinconsistency with food, but service has always been good. Read more

Threw a dart at the map and this place came up. We ordered fried green tomatoes, crab bisque, seafood jambalaya, and the pimento... cheese burger. Food was fantastic. Atmosphere was really nice, and service was good. We did have a 25 minute lull betweensalads and entrées, but that gave us some much needed talk time. We would definitely go back. Read more
