Steve makes excellent potato salad! Go on Sunday for a melt in your mouth SO tender you can cut with a fork pork steak! Green... beans and mac and cheese are lovely as well. I like supporting mom and pop places but this was a waste of $37. The chicken was seasoned; the spiciness took away from any... flavor the meat might have had. Pulled pork was oily and bland. Buns were greasy, slaw didn?t have any flavor, baked beanswatery, and the Mac and cheese gelatinous. They forgot to include sauce so we had to go back and get it. What little I ate gaveme painful stomach cramps. Never again. Read more

Clean restaurant with homey feel, reasonable prices, and nice staff. Ordered a sampler with brisket, pulled chicken, and ribs;... and a pulled pork frachos. The pork rib meat easily pulled away from the bone with a plastic fork, the pulled chicken wasprobably the best I've ever had, and the brisket was comparable to some of the best places in Texas. The pulled pork frachos(fries sliced thin like nachos) was a mess of deliciousness. All the meats were incredibly juicy and tender. The sweet bbq sauceseemed a little too sweet, but the flavors of the meat did not require any sauce anyway. They have an assortment of homemadedesserts. The smoked cheesecake I ordered to go was amazing. I will be returning with friends and family and will consider theircatering if I ever host an event. Read more

Just tried Trail Boss for the first time tonight and as of about 2 minutes ago I inhaled my food. This is hands down the best... BBQ I have ever had! I will be a repeat customer many times for sure! Read more

These bad reviews are making me LOL. It?s Ashland MO for crying out loud. Food was bomb. You could tell the server was in High... School and doing a great job. Dude is working, happy for him. Food was much better than expected and fast. 10/10 Read more

Love this place! It's a great destination date night location!! The food is delicious! The meats are tender and well flavored!!... We love Steve the owner and all the fixing are top quality!! Love his barbeque sauces!! Our grandsons request eating theirtoo!!! Read more

Our first visit for lunch today: The atmosphere was good and clean, the wait staff and the management were clean and very... friendly, although the waiter had long hair that wasn't tied back, SMH. The pulled pork sandwiches we had were good, but thefried okra had absolutely no taste at all. The appearance of the dishes were very nice. The utensils were plastic and camewrapped in a very thin small napkin in a plastic wrap with a small single serving packet of salt and pepper, the kind you wouldget if you were getting take out, We Dined In, so I was expecting actual silverware, seeing the utensils were plastic, that,made my decision for me on which item to order off the menu, because I couldn't see trying to cut up a BBQ pork steak with aplastic knife and fork unless they were EXTREMELY TENDER, I didn't want to take that chance. They didn't offer us any additionalsalt and pepper or napkins I had to request them. The table were bare. When I saw them wheel in the meat from outside withoutany covering we almost got up and walked out. Even though it was a short distance bird's do fly over, YUCK I don't think wewill be going back, it was a 30 minute drive from our house but it came highly recommended so we thought that we would give it atry, I'm so sorry. ???????? Update: after the owners reply I feel it necessary to reply. 1) The order was to go, I waited inside until I received my order... and began eating within 5 minutes so everything was ?fresh?. 2) On the coleslaw; do you chop the cabbage and create your owndressing? If so its very similar to others as was the okra, I actually said both were above average so good review. 3)Thebrisket; I eat at BBQ restaurants a LOT, I can only recall one other time where the brisket was pre-sliced, I see no reason whybrisket can?t be cut to order, even chain restaurants cut it to order. (Billy Sims, Rib Crib, etc.) The picture shows there?s nobark on the brisket, yes there?s a good smoke ring so it was smoked but maybe cutting beforehand and resting it in its own brothrobbed it of the flavor. If others like it great for you and your place but when compared to others I?ve had I found it averagethus the 3 star rating. Struggling with this review, I really wanted to love this place. The staff were extremely nice andhelpful. The food was a letdown however. The slaw is scoop and serve so not made in house and the okra was frozen so not theirrecipe either; both were above average but nothing special. The brisket was just okay. There was only a hint of smokiness to it.It was moist but brisket gets a lot of it?s taste from fat and the rub/bark and it had little of either. You can see from thepicture that some of the meat had turned brown; I?m wondering if the meat was sliced in advance and set aside in a broth tokeep.
