Reviews for Jack of the Wood in Asheville, NC
We popped for a beer and the Bluegrass Bruch. So cool. Authentic banjo live music, cold beer and great eats. We have the chicken... and waffles which was boneless and awesome. The Philly cheesesteak was really good, complete with pickled jalapeños! Yumfun! #northcarolina #ashville #bluegrass #brunch #chickenandwaffles #phillycheesesteak #dineology Read more

Love this pub in downtown Asheville. The beer selection was extensive with lots of local breweries represented and the staff was... extremely helpful. On top of that, just a very cool place to visit?very homey and comfortable. Read more
The bar is rustic and friendly. However, the staff is not. I paid my tab and the bartender asked ? in cash?!?? As if it was some... foreign currency. I told her yes and she took the cash ( tip included , not assumed ) , never said thank you but insteadcrumbled the receipt facing away from me and proceeded to chat with a couple she knew. I felt it was incredibly rude. Icontinued to finish my drink and leave. Restrooms have chalkboard walls which is cool, but I wouldn?t return. Honest opinion. Read more
What fun this place was! The husband and I popped in for a drink (or 3) and a snack. Our bartender was Melissa -- she is... outstanding! She makes the most amazing drinks (if you like coconut rum and fruity, she is your gal). I swear she didn't stopfor a second, and neither did the guy she was working with. They were constantly refilling drinks and making everyone feel athome. The bar seems a bit small; I prefer to use the word "cozy", because the people are fantastic and friendly. The band we saw-- Supper Break, a bluegrass band -- was great fun. They pulled out some awesome oldies as well as played some of their ownoriginals. (We didn't go to the back end of the place, so I can't say what was back there.) We're already making plans to comevisit Asheville again. If we do, Jack of the Wood is back on our list! Read more
Our bartender was very attentive and fun, we liked him very much. We got the buffalo chicken fries and they were stupendous. The... selection of beers wasn't my favorite, but we found some that we liked. We enjoyed the live music that was happening all daylong - on a Saturday. All in all a really great experience.
