I wasn?t expecting much because obviously you can?t expect white people to make good authentic Latin American food but was worse... than expected. Tamales had no flavor at all all aswell as the rice and beans. The 5 start reviews must be from people who haven?thad real Mexican or Latin American food. The biggest travesty is they charge 6 dollars for one tamale? can go to any localmexican spot and get one for third of the price and also tastes much better. Read more

I?ve only eaten from their food truck at Turgua and Highlands. The beef empanadas are amazing! Hickory Nut Gap beef. So... delicious. The rice and beans on the side is usually a little dry and I don?t like the salsa so I ask for it without. Also hadthe Cuban style sandwich and that was fantastic. Read more

The first time I went, it was delicious and the service from Maisy was exceptional. I have returned twice and both times I was... forgotten and had to request items like a check, more water, a box, my waiter etc. I waited to see how long it would take forthe waiter and waitress to return but they never did. I had to find them. They passed me numerous times without checking in. Iam very disappointed. IF I ever return, I will only like to have the first waitress, Maisy. That was the type of service youwould expect here. Thank you for responding.... This was earlier today 07/29/22 around 6:20pm. Read more

We had tamales and empanadas, which were delicious. My wife saw the espresso martini on the drink menu and mistakenly said she... wanted a chocolate martini. The bartender came out to clarify and added a bit of chocolate to the drink, which my wife loved. This is a great neighborhood restaurant. Read more

The experience of dining outside with the sun shining was fabulous. The patio is large, plenty of space, and the tables are... cute. If they ever throw a block party style event here, it would be so cool, the location is perfect. Our waitress with thelong feather earrings was a damn delight. She was friendly, attentive, and when there was an issue with receiving the wrongitem, she resolved it beautifully, which I super appreciate. The niçoise salad my friend got was large and she seemed happywith it. The dressing we both got was incredible - some balsamic situation that was perfectly balanced. The sausage patty waswell seasoned. The fruit in the fruit plate was fresh and flavorful. The beef in the carne empanada was well seasoned. Now forthe less than stellar bits: The mushroom tamale was bizarre. The filling was underseasoned and contained roughly one and a halfbutton mushrooms; the masa was bland and bordering on gummy. A bummer, because it came beautifully wrapped in the corn husk Thebreakfast potatoes were good, par boiled before making so they were cooked through and seasoned with a tasty rosemary blend. Iwish they were a bit crispier. The food was solid, the mimosa was (properly) mostly champagne, the prices were reasonable, andthe ambiance was sweet. I'd definitely come here again. Read more

I was invited by a friend to join him at Cecilia's Kitchen for a lunch of crêpes. I had never been before. This restaurant is... newly located on Merrimon just in front of the SavMor grocery and across the street from Grace Episcopal Church. I haven't had acrêpe in years and kicked myself for stupidly depriving myself! The food was delicious, with plentiful portions that resultedin doggy bags for both of us! There are both savory and dessert crêpes made with buckwheat flour, tamales and empanadas, aneclectic sandwich menu (including a cuban sandwich!), salads, charcuterie/cheese/fruit appetizers, a good selection of wines, areasonable (but not extensive) bar selection and aperitif's, and lovely desserts. Gluten-free and vegetarian offerings andmostly local, organic, fresh ingredients. The ambience and decor was really lovely with living plants and flowers inside, aEuropean feel, and quite a number of tables outside, under cover,, even with outdoor heaters. The experience was so verypleasant. We recommend it. Read more
