Reviews for Bun Intended - SW Food Hall in Asheville, NC
Tried the pork belly bao entree with papaya salad and jasmine rice. The test was pretty authentic Asian flavor but not towards... Thai flavor. Papaya salad was ok, I'm always looking for perfection on this dish as I have had amazing ones and always trying tofind that. Freahness is key along with local ingredients which is limited due to location. Nice staff but service took a littlelong probably due to influx of orders. Would go back and try some more items next time. Read more

I ordered the curry bowl of the day, which was Massaman curry with pork belly. For the amount and the price, it was filling, and... the two slices of pork belly were plenty to pair with the curry. They had two spice levels, so I chose the jungle style, thespicier level. Although it was described as extremely spicy, I thought that it was alright, but for an average person, thedescription would probably be more fitting. Overall, flavor was there and pretty good, and I was served quickly. It might havebeen the curry of the day, but I felt that it was a bit too salty, and in addition to the pork belly, it was extra salty. Thereare radishes, cucumbers, and other veggies that helped cut the saltiness, but I probably would have enjoyed it more if it wasless salty. Nevertheless, I think this place has a lot of potential and may come by again to try something different! Read more
SUPER DELICIOUS Pork Belly Bao! Pork was crispy and tender, not fatty or chewy, with fresh and crunchy veggies and a perfectly... tangy yet savory sauce! Hit the spot for a mid-day snack! Read more
Ordered a ton of different items so we could get a feel for the menu. Food looked good. The PORK BELLY and grilled chicken BAO... were unfortunately way too bready with the baos not being plaiable to hold the contents of the bao that everything kept fallingout. We ended up eating the insides and tossing most of the bao. The pork belly being a slight better texture than the grilledchicken. The SALAPAO was a stuffed bun with shredded pork. Nice presentation- but again a bit too bready with not much of thepork filling inside. Would have been better it the pork had a bit more moisture to it with hoisin or something. The SPICY CURRYBOWLS ( chicken and pork) were quite decent and packed a good flavor profile with the coconut milk and spices. The spicy somtum- green papaya salad- was quite decent. The pork skewers were ok. As was the Thai tea with rum. Overall disappointment withthe baos as that was what we were most interested in enjoying. Read more
I first started having the food from Bun Intended a few years ago at their Food Truck and oh my how they have grown. The food... hall has all of the Staples you'd expect from Bun Intended if you have had their food truck (Bao, Fried Rice, Salapao) but theexpanded menu is what keeps me coming back. Now Bun Intended serves one of my favorite Thai Dishes (Pad See Ew!) and thespecials that they have may be some of the best Thai food I have had in the area. They now serve delicious skewers and if youare off the clock the Thai Rum Tea slushy is truly something else. ;) If you ever have the chance to try their amazing specialslike Thai Chicken Wings or the Cold Noodle, I guarantee you will be singing the same song but all in all I have to say I amhappy to have yet another great place to add to my list of favorite foods in Asheville. P.S. The staff are kind and helpful ifyou have any questions or are looking to add a little more spice to your life. Read more
We love food halls, so when I found out one opened in Asheville, we made sure to stop on our most recent trip. We love Asian... cuisines, so this food stall was a natural stop for us. We got the Pork Belly Bao and Larb Gai. I really enjoyed bothdishes. The bao bun was much bigger and thicker than any other bao bun I've ever had. The pork belly was crispy which I wasn'texpecting, but it was really good. If you're at the S&W Market, I'd definitely recommend checking out this stall! Read more
Located at the rear of the food hall on the ground floor. Cute spot with some interesting options, I went for the pork bun & a... Thai tea! I was sad they were out of their Thai coffee as I was told it?s homemade freshly brewed daily. Overall the tea had apretty good taste, reminded me of the sachets I use from my local Asian grocer. The bao could?ve used maybe bigger pieces ofpork or just more pork. Not bad for the price. Read more
