Great breakfast food, had the Ham Pots, no mushrooms, and it was very tasty! The service was top notch and they even brought out... water for our well-behaved pups... I've been going here for 20 years. A 30 minute drive from home, but more than worth it. There are dozens of decent restaurants... five minutes away, but Red Apple beats them all - even Crows Nest and Shadowbrook. We take visitors there for special treats. Never a bad meal, enough left over to make complete meals the next day. A lot of food. Large menu. Specials every day thatmake it difficult to pick what to eat. Everything is fresh. Great service. I hate to write this review because the place isalready crowded, but it deserves the spotlight. I wish they'd open for dinner. I've read a lot of the reviews and most of the"one stars". I have to guess that those come from competitors, not customers. I've never experienced any problems theyclaimed. Nice try though. Read more

The perfect day would entail a delicious eggs benedict breakfast on the patio with plenty shade and a beautiful view. The Red... Apple Cafe delivers the perfect breakfast experience. The avocado benedict with country potatoes was one of the best I've everenjoyed. The breakfast plates are huge and filling. I can see why this cafe was voted "Best of Santa Cruz" for six consecutiveyears in a row. There are a multitude of stairs to climb in order to reach the restaurant. If this poses a problem, there is anescalator and elevator available. I would recommend the waitresses have another employee cover their tables while they are onbreak. The food was great yet the service was subpar. We had to ask for help 3 separate times; first of all for the menus then the... water then to order? The Eggs Benedict was excellent with the creamy and yummy hollandaise sauce. The house potatoes were a bittoo crispy and almost too burnt for my liking. The tuna melt and green salad was great. It was pretty darn cold inside. All the windows were open and it was 40 degrees given I was there in the morning. I also asked... to exchange the sausage that came with me meal for something else (literally anything) and they refused. So they brought me themeal without the meat and still charged me full price.
