This was my first time at a bed and breakfast. I may never stay in a hotel again! The staff is so warm and personable. The suite... we were in was modern and yet cozy with a farmhouse feel...with a gas fireplace that made it my happy place during our stay. Thefood was nothing short of amazing!! They also have the most beautiful library (photos attached) and I'm a book lover so this wasa huge bonus for me. Breakfast is included with your stay and it wasn't just coffee and donuts like at a regular hotel. No,honey. I had peaches in molasses with whipped cream and a ham omelet and every bite was deliciously satisfying! And...I left mysilver pinkie ring and texted the Inn Keeper--because she gave us her number-- and she is mailing me back my ring. And when Itold her I forgot to purchase a shirt, she offered to charge it to my card and mail it along with my ring. You can't get thatkind of service at a hotel. We will definitely be back! If you are looking for a place to make your home base when exploring Appomattox and the surrounding area, this is it. It is like... staying at an elderly relative?s historic house, except nicer. Also the food is wonderful and reasonably priced. Give yourselftime to enjoy breakfast and linger over that second cup of coffee. Nice staff that makes sure you have what you need, but alsoknow how to just let you be and enjoy the space. Read more

We loved our stay at The Babcock House. The decor is beautiful and really brought us back in time. We stayed in the Laurie... room, which was very comfortable and quiet. GREAT STAY!!! This was a very awesome stay, the staff is really nice, and I would definitely stay here again! My sister and I... decided to spend the weekend with my sister at her college at Longwood University and we wanted to try a bed-and-breakfast forthe first time! We were extremely happy with our stay but Sunday morning we were a little shocked. We woke up around 8:30am, andwe started packing up and cleaning up the room before heading down to breakfast, we had scheduled breakfast for 9 AM but we losttrack of time packing and cleaning up that it was 15 minutes after nine so we rushed and got ready to go downstairs to getbreakfast at 9:25 and we were told that we couldn?t eat breakfast. I found this to be a little odd since 9:25 in the morningisn?t that late for breakfast? The staff member Talia did explain that they had to prepare for brunch at 11 I believe but Istill feel like we could have been served something??..? I would have been happy with it just some eggs, grits and bacon.Nothing fancy. It was just 2 of us. Again this WAS NOT a huge problem but just make a note that you need to be early or on timefor your breakfast time otherwise you will not be served! Again, we were very satisfied with our service staying here andeating here, just wished the breakfast served to guests was a bit more flexible with time. Very good food, shrimp and grits, spicy crab soup. On a weekday, it was a little slow. We split the meal and found it to be... plenty. Also peanut butter pie takeout! There is seating in a screened porch with fans. Read more

We had dinner at the Babcock House on 6/9 and the dinner was excellent. We had the pecan crusted salmon with sauteed brussel... sprouts and fingerling potatoes and a lemon mousse (not too lemony) for dessert. All of our food was terrific! Trust me on all levels if I could give this place a 10 I would. We have eaten pick up food their several times since we moved... here. It is always amazing. This past weekend we dined in with my parents from Nelson County Virginia and my sister fromMaryland and they loved it. From the owners, to the hostess, to the chef and the wait staff. This place is amazing and the foodis beyond delicious. I love to cook and have eaten cruise around various parts of the world- Denmark, England, China and Mexico.This place is worth flying from afar to eat their amazing food. Read more
