We had lunch here before hitting the beach. The menu is simple and the food was very very good. I would say that the Cuban... sandwich and the shrimp chowder are a must try. They may not always have the corn and shrimp chowder, it was a day special whenwe were there. This soup was very delicious, we had the "best clam chowder" at another restaurant the day before. This chowder,although not clam based, blew that one out the water as far as flavor goes. We also tried the wings and the wedge salad. If youhave an hour, you can rent some rods from the nice gentleman that runs the stand. You can also buy some bait, live or frozen. Ihad seen some videos about people fishing here but we did not have much luck, we only caught a small perch. We did see peoplewith their own gear so the fishing might is probably good when you bring in good gear. You can always swim after your meal butthere are better beaches to check out if you are only here for a few days. There is also a free trolley that takes you tomanatee beach and further south, this is their most northern stop on their route. Enjoy y'all! Read more
Great food, service, and view. It's a small place at the end of a pier. Expect to wait for a table. Time will pass quickly as... you take in all the views. We saw pelicans, dolphins, egrets, & small fish that were jumping out of the water (pelicans werefeasting on them)! Read more
Wow. Just wow. As good a seafood restaurant as I've ever been to, and I've been to a lot. My wife had the grouper, I had the... mahi-mahi, you get a choice of how you want it cooked, and with what sauce, if any, and it was absolutely fantastic. So fresh,no fishy taste, and well worth the drive this iconic restaurant that has obviously been here for years. Totally casual, peopleare fishing off the dock, if there's any downside it's trying to time your visit so you both get a place to park, and you cansee the sun set. This place is a MUST visit. Such an incredible little chill spot to eat n have some beers. I live in Florida and can say that they are in the Top 3 for... restaurants with the best grouper sandwich.
