This place was great for lunch. I give then 5 stars according to the type of restaurant and the waitress was very sweet and... thorough. Its so much better than bar food with higher quality ingredients and menu selections. I had the daily soecisl tacosakad and it was the best I've. had in years. The shell was light crispy and lots of fresh salad with chicken. The quacomole wasgood and seemed fresh made. The ranch dressing was the best homemade! The burgers are huge too. I was excited to try this place out, but we won?t be making a return visit any time soon. We visited on a very dead evening.... Ankeny and Ankeny Centennial were playing football so literally like no one out and about. We waited 10 minutes for menus and toget our drink order in. Then waited 10 more to be able to get our food order in (we weren?t ready for when our waitress stoppedby with our drinks, but she didn?t visit back for 10 minutes). We then waited 30 minutes for our food to come out. We watched 2tables that had came in 10 (2 top) and 20 minutes (6 top) after us, get their food before us. When we got our food we could tellit?d been sitting in the window for a considerable amount of time as the wings and fries were soggy. We asked for a sauce wedidn?t get in our original order and the waitress didn?t visit back until we were finished with our food and said ?oh I forgotthe sauce sitting in the window? (like the food, most likely). Just was disappointing to spend $50 for an appetizer, two sodas,and two meals and have sub par service with subsequent sub par food. By the looks of it, it seemed to be the waitress?oversight, she forgot about her (one) table, because other tables that had other servers seemed to be getting in and out. Our visit was fine. Just pretty middle of the road. Basic bar food. Waitress was pleasant. Large selection of beers and... cocktails. Not recommended for people with food allergies, all sauces and most dressings had wheat or dairy, leaving the foodbland. They were setting up for trivia when we left, so that looked fun. Read more
When asked if eating at the Chicken coop would be okay, I was like absolutely not, I am not eating at a place called the chicken... coop. After finding out they don't serve fried chicken, I was absolutely baffled. Anyway I ate there and it met my expectations.Service was acceptable, seating was acceptable, the food was pretty solid. I order the sausage grinder which was actually prettysolid for a sausage grinder. A bit too much cheese, but I'm sure some people would be into that. There could easily have beenhalf the meat and cheese in the sandwich and I would have been satisfied. The fries were alright, kinda tasted like onion rings.(Not a negative btw) Fries were not especially crispy/fresh tasting but whatever, I give them a passing grade. When therestaurant was described to me as good, not great, that was absolutely spot on. Clean facility, plenty of parking, weirdlocation, but whatever. We got right in with no wait, this is why we went here. The food was ok, but nothing special bu anymeans. I think I had maybe 3... wings that didn't have shattered bones everywhere I them. It was not enjoyable bitting into bones with every bite, nor safe. Themenu needs updated on the sauces if you don't have it dont put it on the menu at least cross it off (Hot Buffalo is not hot theyonly have one ) in a pinch we went to try it out and shame on us for that, but we were hungry. We won't be going back to thisplace for the price of the food to the quality of the food just is even close together.... Read more
The fries, burgers and salads are all 5 stars but DO NOT order the tenderloin, They should be embarrassed to serve it. I would... compare it to something you'd buy at the freezer isle. Read more
