Reviews for Mr. Rivers Breakfast Joint in Anderson, SC

So, let me start by saying my wife and I are not picky and normally eat our food even if we aren?t satisfied with it. But today... while traveling, we decided to try Mr. Rivers. We ordered the fried dough, and both of us ordered the eggs Benedict. When ourfood arrived, the poached eggs were overdone(very firm), and tasted like pure vinegar. We?ve ordered this dish at many places, and have made it at home enough to know how it should be. We both only took one bite out of dishes, and waited for our waitressto come back. We told her our concerns, and she took our plates and said she would check on it. When she came back, herexplanation was a new person in the kitchen, and she should have checked better. We told her we would just like our check andleave, we didn?t have time to wait for another order. She left and came back with a check that still had both orders of EggsBenedict on it. We told her we?re not paying for what we didn?t even eat. She left, and came back and angrily gave us a checkfor the one coffee and the fried dough we did eat. ( The fried dough by the way is just hush puppies with cinnamon and sugar onit). We payed and left, still tipping her. Again, I normally don?t do this and leave reviews, but I?m sorry, I refuse to justlet this slide. Restaurants have become complacent post pandemic and I?m tired of seeing this trend. Read more

Been here twice now. Great service and incredible food. The Duck Egg BLT is the best BLT I have ever had!

Staff was friendly and helpful, everything we had was good but nothing was great. A bit pricey for breakfast, the shrimp and... great were good creamy sauce was a bit salty. Eggs were good the bacon is really yummy but small. Sweet tea was good. The frieddough is a nice sweet treat, there a bit hard and needs more powered sugar. I'll definitely be back to try more items. Nice atmosphere. Good service. Unique breakfast menu. The fried green tomatoes and bacon jelly was nice. The shrimp eggs... Benedict was spot on. The side of home fries were served cold. Not cool but cold. Obviously, the fries were prepared ahead oftime. Read more

Food was bland and not executed well. Biscuits were dense and chewy. The grits had so much cream no other flavors came through.... The breading on the fried chicken and green tomatoes was a unique corn based batter; not too bad, it was crispy not flaky andheld up to the gravy. Read more
