Reviews for Old Chicago Pizza + Taproom in Ames, IA
As a frequent customer of this establishment, our service today was horrible. Our waitress who we guessed was probably new,... brought the wrong order and not all of our order. No asking for refills. When we finally got the missing and correct items weasked that they be put in to go boxes since it had been over 30 minutes and the rest of our party was done eating. When weopened the box of our Italian nachos, we?re not sure what we got since it was not a normal setup. The lid for the sauce wasloose. Ended up just throwing it away. Read more
Great Pizza BUT... it would be NICE if they advertised that they close the dining area at 9pm even though they are open till... 11pm. Some of us drive from an hour away and being directed to dine in the bar isn't what we were hoping for. Additionally wewere informed that the main menu is only available till 10pm, seems that would be worth putting on the advertised hours as well.Thankfully we got there at 9:30 and could still order pizza, thinking they were open till 11pm I thought we had plenty of timeto spare. So here we were at the bar, waiting for our pizza, being entertained by what I can only describe at "drunk middle ageladies in goddess t shirts" night out. This is why I avoid bars in the first place. Our pizza was good, but not as good as itusually is. I think they don't mind sending out one slightly undercooked if it is for the bar people, especially if the kitchenwas preparing to close. One girl was serving the entire bar, so things moved S-L-O-W. We got our salads only minutes before ourpizza. Glad we did that, won't make that mistake again. I now understand that if you aren't part of the drinking crowd, OldChicago as a place to eat pizza, effectively closes at 9pm and everyone should adjust accordingly. Read more

That was great. Not too expensive. Two of us enjoyed and became full. I recommend you have it with soda.
Food and drinks were all good. Our server was very nice and never left us waiting or wanting of anything. Overall a 4star... experience and my next comments are not reflected in the rating, but more being made so that it is heard by management becauseit did give me an immediate bad impression when I pulled in. The landscaping (shrubs and river rock) are over grown with weeds. Obviously, I don't know if this is the responsibility of the hotel the restaurant is attached to or Old Chicago. When I pulledin I questioned if the restaurant had gone out of business because it looked so terrible. If it weren't for the presence ofother vehicles I would have never gotten out and tried the door. It looks like no weed prevention or weeding has been done inseveral months. Some of the weeds looked like poorly placed shrubs. Normally my initial impression would have made me questionwhat the kitchen and dining room must look like and I wouldn't have stayed to find out. On this occasion I was meeting peopleand went inside. Inside was clean and not at all represented by the care taken outside. I recommend remedying it.... Read more
Pasta was great with good flavor, sandwich was soggy, way too much sauce or juice that made the bread fall part so had to eat... with a fork. Read more
