Reviews for Joy's Mongolian Grill in Ames, IA
Best tasting Chinese food I've ever tasted. Feels very homestyle and authentic with large tasty portions. The steamed dumplings... appetizer wasn't that good though. I've had better elsewhere but the rest of the main dishes were absolutely delicious. Veryfriendly lady as well. Read more
Not busy, 2 of us at 1:00pm took about 25 mins to get food. Husband got food about 7 minutes before I did.... then wontons came... out about 5 minutes after our food. I ordered mushroom chicken... it was so salty I could not eat more than a few bites.Plastic cutlery, sticky tables, bathroom smelled like cigarettes... won't go back. Read more
This is one of my favorite places to eat! It's definitely one of those "hole in the wall" kind of places, but the food is... excellent and you're supporting a local business and person. We eat here often! Read more
I’ve missed the Chinese/Mongolian restaurants I have in my home town so finding this place was a trip back home. The food is... excellent and maybe even better than what I’m used to. Highly recommend Read more
A quiet, relaxed dining experience. Food wasn't too expensive and it was still very tasty. Definitely recommend eating here ????
A great place to grab delicious Chinese food. Would highly recommend it for a family sit down. It was empty and the place filled... up really quickly. The food came out fresh. You can tell that everything was freshly made and not something frozen. Greatflavors and spices. Would go back. Read more
Looks like a new menu, more focused on rice and noodles than before. The Lanzhou Beef Noodle soup is very good - but I would... recommend getting it spicy. I decided not to and regretted it, since it lacked that bit of pizzazz. Broth and noodles howeverwere still great! Read more
Got some takeout with my girlfriend here. Staff was nice and the restaurant had a really nice "Chinese restaurant from your... hometown" vibe. Prices were also really fair for the portions you get. My beef lo mein was great, and so were the crab rangoonswe split, but about 75% of the sesame chicken was inedible. Sauce was fantastic, but the chicken itself was burnt as coal andhad the texture of... bone splinters? Neither of us could finish it. Hate to leave bad reviews, especially on local businesses,so I'm going with 4 stars. They probably just made a mistake. I'll be giving it another try soon. Read more
