Both of my son's went to PSU Altoona and ate at Mama's quite a bit. 5 years later and now I finally ate there myself. Awesome... Italian food! Eggplant Parmigiano was over the top. Great sized portions. Appetizers were also outstanding. My wife'schicken alfredo was also very good. Our waitress (Kathleen)did an exceptional job and was very attentive and friendly. Love the food here... anytime I want to order Italian take out, this is the spot! I love the Chicken Parm, Eggplant Parm,... Cutlets and those meatballs are the best around here hands down! The pizza is great too- good sauce, good mozzarella, goodpepperoni... I prefer my crust NY style(thin, foldable with end not sagging, but the crust doesn't crack either when u fold it).My only "complaint" would be for the crust to be like that-but that's just me being pizza fussy. Excellent eggplant parmesan! We also ordered a cheese calzone which was fantastic. I'm not a huge red sauce kinda gal but the... sauce was so good I ate all the angel hair pasta before moving on to anything else! Read more
This was a very nice find in Altoona. Not in a prominent location but easy to find via Internet mapping. Plenty of parking next... to building and across the street. This is a small local Italian restaurant. Mama Randazzo work almost every day (at the time ofthis posting) preparing fresh food for the day. The staff have nothing but praise for her and her leadership. The food is verygood and obviously fresh made. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Clean restrooms. The outside is deceiving. What seems to be a typical pizza spot is actually a culinary find! The food is delicious and once you... have their white pizza you won't want to have any other. Trust me.. you seriously need to try it. Read more
