Menu for Locale Kitchen & Lounge in Alpine, CA

Newer restaurant inside Viejas Casino. It's the "farm to table" concept featuring locally sourced items. The problem is that... it's inconsistent. Even something as simple as the bread (well toast) they serve - several times it's been so burnt as to beinedible. But my biggest complaint is the menu itself. They try to be fancy and justify the high prices and often miss,sometimes badly. They recently changed the menu though and the Brandt Beef is wonderful. I had the ribeye and it was cookedperfectly and very tasty. A little salty though and I usually add salt to my steak. My friend had the black cod and it wasreally delicious, practically melts in your mouth. The second time she ordered it the portion was tiny though. Like I said,inconsistent. If I could change it I'd simplify the menu and make it more accessible and lower the prices. There's a reason it'snot very busy and the prices, even with the discount you get with a Viejas player's card, are pretty high for a casino. Read more

I've eaten at this place three times since they opened and the food is excellent! The server's are fast, friendly and the place... is beautiful. The bar has poker video machines and Jason the bartender makes the best cucumber drinks from scratch! Love thisplace. Read more

Amazing new restaurant. Must try the Pollo ala Brasa!

Food was pretty good, portions are small for the price. Gourmet'ish style. I posted pics of the appetizer, salt and pepper... chicken wings....and the entree, buttermilk Fried chicken. The fried chicken.....pieces, we're white meat, a little over cooked- quite dry. The carrot puree was amazing with the carmelized onions. Had to order a side dish for a meal, and had the TuscanPotatoes...which were also amazing. Service was excellent, very excellent in fact. Read more
