Since moving to Alpharetta in 2000, dining options - good to excellent - in and around the area have exploded. With this in... mind, my wife and I recently ventured a bit further north to Halcyon and ate at Ocean & Acre. From start to finish, theexperience and meal was superb. The hostess greeted us with a warm smile and seated us on the patio. Soon thereafter, we weregreeted by Abby, our server. Abby is everything you'd hope to find in a server - friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, and veryprofessional. She's a foodie at heart, so it was easy to trust her recommendations when it came time to order, and she - andthe kitchen - didn't let us down. If you visit O&A on a Th, F, S, or Su, ask to be seated in her section. She will definitelytake care of you, as will the rest of the team. Dining on the patio, despite it being a hot day, was perfect, and with a slightbreeze blowing we could've easily been ocean-side. Nothing inspired here. Would probably return for drinks and appetizers but not a full meal. Calamari was the highlight of the... meal adn well executed - no chewy rubber bands here. For Entrees: Seared Red Fish was not well seasoned and slightly over done- the flavors on the other plated items were muted. Shrimp and Grits was a bigger fail.. Southern grits should not have thetexture of whipped potatoes. Plating was more like soup. Sauce needed thickening and a bit more spice. The food here was absolutely incredible. Everything was so flavorful and had its own character. The ambience reminds you that... you’re sitting Oceanside which is perfect for seafood. The drinks were incredible. We had the grilled Alabama oysters,scallops with pork belly and salmon. My husband coins has the best salmon he’s ever had. Ohhh and don’t forget to order theKeylime pie. Amazing food, amazing service and fantastic drinks! We went for our three year anniversary and when they found out they... surprised us with dessert and a sparkler! I come here for the brunch sitting in their open bar window. I never dined inside the restaurant but atmosphere is very nice... inside and outside as well. Staffs are very very kind and attentive. Honestly, it's been a long time since I had actually good food in Atlanta. Its all just fried junk food, burgers, pizza and... tacos everywhere you go. Ocean & Acre was a breath of fresh air for me, my wife and a few of our friends! A few bites into ourfood we were all excited and talked about how we finally found real food in this city! We all had different fish main plates andthey were all exceptional! Fresh ingredients and the flavors woke my taste buds up again! The food brought us back toEurope!
