Andy, at the Alexandria, VA restaurant, worked with us to plan an amazing private dining event for 150 research scientists. From... the moment we walked into the door, the service was great, but the food is was what stole the show. You don't know what GREATBBQ tastes like until you've had Myron Mixon's! Truly, so many unique, subtle and surprising flavors that were like a treasurehunt for your palate! We could not have asked for anything yummier (even for the vegetarians). Are you kidding me? Best kept secret in Alex Town! Real deal BBQ! Comfy atmosphere, cool bar, lots of sports screens and just... damn fine grind! Git Some! BUT… I ordered wings. 12 of them. I asked to have half dry rub and half spicy sauce. Instead ofcharging me for a dozen, the guy charged me for 6 and 6. This costs $3 extra. It’s not the money, it was underhanded in myhumble opinion. Tried this place for Alexandria restaurant week and it had to be the best decision. I had ribs brisket beans and loaded potato... salad. He had pork belly pulled pork greens and mac n cheese..(not pictured) some parts of the ribs were really dry buteverything else was bomb. I wanted this to be good but I was so disappointed. Honestly, the brisket and sausage was not too bad even by Texas standards.... The baked beans were real good but the Mac & Cheese was mush and just didn’t taste great. Not award winning but better thansomething like Dickies. I probably should have ordered the pork. What ruined it for me was the service. Myron should be ashamedto have his name on the building. There couldn’t have been three occupied tables when we arrived and still, once we wereseated it took FOREVER for the young man to take our drink order. Once he did, he slowly shuffled away not to be seen again foranother FOREVER. When he did return with drinks, I was informed they were out of the beer I had ordered. I picked another and ittook a third FOREVER to get my beer. Of the two waitstaff there on this day neither had any sense of urgency or pep in theirstep. My wife ordered the brisket and specifically asked for moist from the point. The young men looked confused and wasconfused so she explained. We both received a generous portions with slices from both the point and the flat. The deviled eggsappetizer were very good. Eventually I ordered a second beer and again, the waiter shuffled off not to be seen for a while. Ibelieve he must’ve been under 21 so he had to have someone else pour the beer for him. And that’s fine but again no one hadany urgency. My wife went to the restroom and reported back that it was a mess. I later went myself and had the same experiencein the men’s room. The paper towel dispenser was empty but a wet roll was set on top of the dispenser. About what you wouldexpect of a gas station. The urinal was gross I took a picture of it. The whole thing seemed sloppy. The part of the restaurantthat you go through to get to the restrooms was basically being used for storage. 1st time trying this BBQ spot it was pretty good I can’t even lie. I am from the south so my expectations isn’t that high... for BBQ up here but I was pleased with Myron . I got the 2 meat platter ribs and brisket then my sides were French fries and Macand cheese . The only disclaimer was the BBQ sauce that was on the table the 3 choices my buddy or I didn’t like any of themthey could do better with that and I only had 1 small container of ketchup it was like they were being conservative with it ateither put the ketchup on the table or provide more I love ketchup with my fries which it was a nice size portion of frenchfries . I sat at the bar and ordered the brisket plate. Good flavor and very tender. It was a good sized portion with pickled onions and... house pickles on the side. The collard greens and loaded potato salad were pretty good. Service was good and friendly. Read more
