Reviews for Mezcalero Cocina Mexicana in Alexandria, VA
We went this afternoon, and all we can say is delicious! We got the hibiscus and pineapple margaritas, the el Diablo, tacos de... Canastas, shrimp enchiladas and beef enchiladas. EVERYTHING tasted amazing and fresh, including the chips and house made salsas. The service was awesome, and we never had to wait for anything. Definitely our new favorite little spot for Mexican food. Read more

The food is really good but make sure you?re not in a rush because service is slow. There are no signs for self seating but When... you walk in just grab a table and get their attention because there?s nobody to seat you and you will be standing in theentrance for a while. It took us about 25 minutes to get the chips and salsa but there were also 3 servers for the entirerestaurant so I couldn?t get upset. Plus they were nice and it looked like they were also doing the cleaning. Read more

Fantastic! Wow! This was certainly a soup with a zing to it. The flavor was full, and perhaps it was almost too spicy if not for... the side condiments to curb the intensity. Delicious tacos as well. Great ambiance and very friendly waiters. Fast service andgood feedback; our water cups were never empty. The two sauces provided with the chips were unique?neither was the traditionalred salsa. There was a green tomatillo sauce and a red-orange, smooth sauce that tasted incredible when mixed with limejuice. The soup had hominy, beef chunks, a stringy spice-line reed set, and some miscellaneous, wimpy leafy vegetables. Greatflavor, despite the lack of greenery! Really did enjoy this experience, and I will definitely be coming back. Expect~$15/person. Read more
Wow, what a wonderful surprise! The location betrays some fantastic food inside. We went for lunch on a very slow weekday... afternoon. The fish tacos were perfect. Everything had such a fresh and balanced flavor and texture... It felt like fine diningquality Mexican food but in a much more casual setting. Prices were reasonable considering the food quality. This will be ournew go-to for delicious Mexican food! Read more
The service was superb as well as the food. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because I ordered a mezcal and was... initially given the right one, but when I went to order another, I was not given what I initially ordered. I asked the waiterabout it, and he returned the drink to the bar and brought what he assumed was the correct one. I again tried it and confirmedit was again not the same drink. It was then when the waiter went to personally check with the bartender, who informed him thathe had ran out of the original mezcal I'd ordered, thus he wouldn't charge me for this one. But it took me asking for my drinkto be changed twice for this to be informed to me. Had I not asked about it, I would've been made to pay for a drink I was notprovided. On a better note, the mole enchiladas were amazing! I love mole and finding places with good mole in the area is notcommon. Nice place, but definitely needs a bit more ambiance for dinner time.
