Based on a previous experience at Hummingbird, we booked a brunch party of 14 for a Saturday afternoon. We were seated in a... shaded area outside (which is such a lovely space) and attended by Vlad. The atmosphere, food, and drinks were all excellent,but by far the star of the show was Vlad. He was friendly, engaging, and managed to keep 14 orders and multiple ticketsorganized. We came to Hummingbird for Alexandria Restaurant week but ended up ordering off their regular menu. Our table overlooked the... Potomac River, our waiter Vlad was excellent, and the atmosphere of the place was really nice. The Heirloom Tomato salad as anappetizer was outstanding (the peaches!). My vegetarian fiancée loved the Ratatouille (with a side of pasta!) for her meal andI went with the Spanish Mussels with Shrimp which were delicious. For dessert, we topped it off with the Hummingbird Cake, whichcontains pineapple, honey, banana, lemon and generally tastes amazing. Highly recommend and we will be coming back! Read more
This was a fantastic dinner. I eat here once a year while I'm in town for work. Every year it gets better. Not pictured were... the desserts. Hummingbird cake was the best cake I may have ever had. If you're around this end of King I recommend this as amust try location. Read more
I was warned that the food at Hummingbird was subpar but it was an acquaintance's birthday and they chose Hummingbird for Sunday... brunch. I wasn't really into the Sunday brunch menu so I got a salad and asked for the dressing on the side which as you cansee, didn't happen. Thousand Island dressing never tastes bad (they call it Louie dressing here) so I can't fault this saladmuch except to say that there was way too much dressing. The deviled eggs were absolutely meh and a waste of calories. Alsothe wait time between ordering, getting your drinks and food is atrocious. Definitely won't be back. Read more
It was poring this past Tuesday and we were hungry after pulling a long work day in the area. We almost walked past this place... but boy were we glad we didn't. We were a party of 8 and were seated at the corner table with the best waterfront view.Service was exceptional for the area. Our waiter was friendly and helpful in both beer and food selection. I had their rabbitpotpie and few of us ordered their whole brenzino fish. The food was awesome. This place is a hidden gem in the area. Go checkit out! Read more
