If I could give Del Ray Boccato restaurant ZERO STAR rating I would in a HOT minute! I placed my to go order through UBEREATS,... once UBEREATS app told my food was ready for pick-up. I go in but only to find they NEVER started my order. So I had to waituntil it was prepared. I also have to mention the two guys working behind the counter were NOT welcoming at all, the older guyseem irritated that I came into the restaurant. Aside from things I mentioned, I will NEVER set foot in this place because it isNOT CLEAN, the City of Alexandria as well as the State Health Department NEED to inspect this place ASAP. This is what I saw asI was waiting for my food near the cash register. If Del Ray Boccato place food on top of a DIRTY showcase container andChocolate Cake that is not keep at the right temperature. Chocolate turns to liquid and the texture of the entire cake is soggywhich I had to trash. I\'m afraid to know what goes on behind the kitchen. - gelato was so good, fresh and they had an awesome display that really drew us in to check it out.\n\n- staff really friendly... and helpful.\n\n- place was clean.\n\n- prices not bad at all for the area.\n\n- they had seating but if they were super busyyou probably wouldn\'t be able to dine in.\n\n- parking in the area is always hit or miss but to be expected.\n\n- they hadother items on the menu that I will go back and try eventually.\n\n- overall a good first experience and I\'d recommend thislocation. Had a great experience for my brief visit to this gem. I happened to be in the hat store next door when we left and decided to... stop for a snack. The owner was very friendly and very engaging with answers we had about his products. He offered us samples ofGelato and explained the ingredients/ tastes of each of the fresh empanadas. We settled on 2 each so we can sample eachother’s and we were not disappointed. Nice/ flaky/ buttery crust, well seasoned, and delicious. Worth a visit for lunch or aquick snack on the go. Read more
Visited a couple times and have been impressed by both the service and quality of the food both times. Today I got a chai latte... and a chicken tamale. Latte was one of the best I have had and the tamale tasted authentic like my Peruvian grandmother makes.Empanadas I tried previously were also delicious as well. Read more
I really wanted to like this place. The owners were friendly as was the service. But the place is way, way, too small. The... \"cook\" was making food right in the middle of the store where we walked right by it a few times. The most unsanitary thing Ithink I\'ve seen. It\'s a shame, they need a bigger store and someone from the health inspection ASAP. Read more
Hours listed are wrong! They were closed on Thursday at noon when I arrived. Empanadas are ok. Wish there was more variety... and balance in side dishes/accompaniments. They have a nice menu but whenever I try to order a drink or special empanadaposted, they don\'t have it available. Read more
