Fantastic experience all around! The service was super friendly and attentive; it was our first time having Ethiopian food and... they were incredibly considerate and patient when explaining the menu. The food itself (we ended up getting a little bit ofalmost everything) was fantastic and full of flavor. I also loved to see that they had lots of vegan and vegetarian options!Seriously, I’m trying to think of a single negative thing to say so that this review would be balanced, but I can’t think ofany negatives! Easily some of the best Ethiopian food I've had in the DMV... Come here when you want delicious food, no frills, and great... hospitality. The person serving us was extremely nice, made recommendations, talked us through everything. It felt like eatingat another family's home. I attempt to find a new restaurant to try as often as I can, but this is one I wouldn't think twiceabout returning to. Read more
We are so happy to find such an excellent restaurant! The friendly servers made the experience unique and even better! Meals... were freshly prepared and tasted absolutely amazing. We got the veggie combo and the ribeye beef. They prepared the two dishesfor us together as we were sharing and it looked beautiful spread across the fresh injera. They adjusted the dish spice level toour liking and they were very attentive to us throughout the experience. We finished everything off in one sitting because wecould not stop eating!! I was so full that I went into a food coma :D.. The staff saw that we finished off all of the food andthen brought us over some of the best coffee I have ever had. All I can say is “WOW” this is an incredible meal and great experience. The staff is so friendly and helpful and we got more... food than we could eat! We recommend the “meat lovers with lamb, ribeye, and chicken. With red lentils and mushroom stew.Great value and excellent variety of perfectly seasoned deliciousness. Fantastic food. Very tasty and made to order. The staff (owner?) Could not be nicer. She explained everything to us and... helped us order and got exactly what we like. We had vegetable sampler with lamp tibs. VERY tasty! Enjira was soft andfluffy. Ginger tea is a great way to end the meal. All in all, highly recommended. It might not be a quick grab and go, butit is definitely worth the wait. And, the price is very reasonable. Read more
We just had a wonderful meal at Caffe Utopia. We live in Del Ray and for many years enjoyed the Ethiopian food at the Caboose... Cafe until it closed a few years ago. We had been trying to find another favorite Ethiopian restaurant and found it tonight.Four of us ordered a vegetarian platter, a 3-meat combo platter and a fir fir special. We asked for it family style with injera.All was delicious, the service was friendly and prompt. Pleasant atmosphere. We will definitely return. Highly recommend toothers who, like us, may have driven past many times but not stopped to try it out. Read more
