OH. MY. FRICKIN’. GAWD! I’d give these guys 10 stars if I could. I have not had Mexican food this good since my San Diego... Days (sorry, Mission District, but SD is better). At 5 Tacos and Beers, the open-air ambience is fantastic. The house margaritarivals many top shelf margaritas. The 5taco combo (they vary, but ours was one each of fish, chicken, beef, pork and?) wasamazing! Chips are house made; salsas taste “made fresh that morning”. The esquite de elote (street corn) is not to bemissed. You’re gonna be too full for churros, but you’re gonna get them anyway, because they are house made and delicious!Something like 30-40 beers to choose from. Micheladas rock here! They have a really good Vegan options and a large selection of local beers! I had the Vegan Flautas and Mexicanita beer. The... chips and salsa cost $4, not free but a nominal cost for handmade corn chips. For desert, we got house Margaritas ????. All ofit was delicious! You know those restaurants that you go to that are dead but somehow still have inattentive service? Yeah, that's this... restaurant. I have Celiac and noticed online, maybe a photo from Google maps or Yelp, that they had a gluten free menu, whichis the only reason we ended up here on 12/18/2021. (They got rid of the gluten free menu apparently, as they serve churros,which share the same frying oil as the chips, making them not gluten free.) My husband and I sat down and then nobody came tocheck on us until I finally turned around and said to my husband, "is anyone going to come check on us." I should have saidnothing and we should have just left, as that really set the tone for the meal. My husband and I ordered the 10 taco platter toshare. While the platter looks impressive, it comes with exactly 2 lime wedges and the only taco that was flavorful was theshrimp taco. My husband had a beef taco and the meat is left on the rib bone, which is something I've never seen in ataco. Between two lime wedges and 2 personal condiment cups of salsa, you'll need to ration it out for 10 tacos because staffisn't coming by if you want more of anything. We couldn't get the attention of any staff that were meandering around, despitethe fact the restaurant was nearly empty. I didn't want to audibly yell but when you're trying to catch their attention and theyblow you off, that's not cool. The only time the waitress was straight up hovering over our table was after she dropped off thecheck and was apparently waiting to see what her tip would be. She didn't even offer to refill our completely empty cups whilehovering on the ramp up to the bar. She got a $0.00 tip, which we almost never do. I absolutely loved this meal. We specifically went for Meatless Monday since I am vegan, and I was not disappointed! They offer... 5 different vegan tacos on Monday so naturally we wanted to try them all. All of the sauces included were very tasty, the tacoswere perfectly cooked and seasoned, not to mention the elegant presentation! The service was also excellent. It is a little biton the pricy side but I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for delicious vegan tacos. Perfect place for a datenight! Read more
The ambiance is wonderful, the service was 5 star, and the presentation of the food as well as the taste was some of the best I... have in a long time. I could go on and on about the plating and how the use of micro greens paired with the other garnishes,were not just aesthetically pleasing but also an amusement park for my taste buds that I never wanted to leave. There are justnot enough words that can be expressed to the pleasantness of a visit that was experienced by me, so I'll just leave people witha these words in the form of an endorsement or recommendation to take this food odyssey that you will love and not forget.
