Food was very good and the prices were so reasonable. I had blackened white fish, blue cheese coleslaw, red beans and rice.... Husband had fried chicken, collard greens and yams. Our bartender, Candy was very good and our waitress Aretha was very sweet. Read more

1 piece of swai which is a cheap fish for the price is outrageous. Greens were as sweet as the yams. I've never had sweet greens... so I definitely didn't like them. Yams and the piece of were good. My daughter's liver and fried okra was yummy. She had toshare because wasn't much I had left to eat . Read more

This place has been on my list to visit for a few weeks and I finally made it in. The blackened salmon was a bit over seasoned... but cooked perfectly. The fried okra and black eyed peas were delicious beyond words. I enjoyed the max and cheese and yams. Iwas able to make a second meal out of this. They skimped on nothing. Very nice ambiance. Plenty of parking. Attentive staff.Efficient service. I visited on a weekend during the late afternoon and was able to take a call and work remotely. The musicadded to a fantastic experience. I would definitely return. I hope you find this review helpful. If so, please give me a thumbsup. Thanks in advance. Read more

Nice atmosphere server was nice and attentive, ordered the two piece white chicken with the two sides mac cheese an sweet... potatoes and wanted to try the red beans rice and greens so added those to my order. The chicken was fried perfectly crispy onoutside with flavorful skin and juicy on the inside. Sides were good, I didn?t care for the greens though didn?t seem like theywere cooked with the neck bone, ham hock, salt pork so they weren?t very favorable. But all in all great place will return andbring friends to check em out! Read more

I've been looking for some gizzards everywhere, and someone recommended me a restaurant named Marquis. I got gizzards from there... that was seasoned well but they weren't made to order, they looked and tasted like they were prepared way before I came. Myfriend got chicken gumbo and it tasted like smokey, beef and no seasoning, it was supposed to be chicken and sausage gumbo, butit wasn't any sausage in it. I threw away mines and my friends plate after one bite. Read more

During a recent trip to Akron, I had my first Marques experience. On the website, they bill their cuisine as "Southern, Cajun,... and Creole Fusion". What I can say is that I was impressed with the food. The menu includes fried okra, gumbo, fried chickengizzards and livers, jambalaya, fried chicken, collard greens, candied yams and chicken and waffles, to name a few items. I hadthe fried chicken with collard greens, candied yams and corn bread. Another person in the group had shrimp and grits (I wasrecently told the shrimp and grits is a popular low country dish from the Carolinas and Georgia). At least one person hadchicken and waffles. Usually the cornbread, collard greens and yams are NOT done well in restaurants. I have never had thoseat a restaurant that came close to having them at home or with family. Marques NAILED ALL THREE. Additionally, restaurantfried chicken is usually cooked in a deep fryer. Pan-fried chicken is so much better. Marques must pan fry his chicken becauseit was very close to the way my mother and grandmother made it. The people in the group who had chicken and waffles or shrimpand grits or macaroni and cheese say they were impressed too. Just as important is the food was reasonably priced and theatmosphere is modern which I like. The server and the chef were friendly and attentive. All and all, this is a great place ifyou are looking for American southern food or 'soul food'. P.S. Thank you for mailing my hat back to me in Massachusetts. Itis one of my favorites. Read more
