It was just ok. We recently traveled to Jamaica and we were really eager to try Irie. We ordered a variety of dishes as there... were many of us. I had bone in chicken, sweet potato salad and pineapple coleslaw. I'm disappointed they do NOT have GreenJamaican jerk sauce.. like at all Also it was extremely pricey for what it is. Read more
Just touched down in Akron for some meetings and I was starving. I wasn?t expecting this adorable spot but it was one of the few... black owned spots opened around 6 on a Sunday. Parking was simple. The restaurant wasn?t too busy. They were out of shrimp so Iwent full veggie. I enjoyed every part of my meal even with the veggie mix over the top. Very delish and filling. My mom loves the small Irie in Cleveland so when we discovered a sit-down restaurant Irie we just had to make the trip to Akron... and check it out. The food was definitely worth the drive and I'm saying this as gas prices are high!!! Everything we had wasdelicious and unique, but I especially loved the curry chicken, meat pies, and macaroni!!! Mom raved over her plantains, cabbageand cornbread. I prefer spicy flavors and she likes mild and they were able to accommodate both our palates. It was a beautifulday and they have a nice outdoor patio to sit and enjoy the flavors, but it was hard to resist the adorable island decor inside.This place feels like it is the creation of love and passion. We just stopped in for the first time and let me tell y'all....I wish I could give them a 10 star review. It's giving home... cooked vibes. I absolutely love Jamaican food, I cook it myself sometimes and although I prefer mine a WHOLE lot spicier (Iunderstand it's probably balanced for the public) we will be returning. Side note: I took the picture after a few bites, buttheir serving sizes are enough for two meals (if you can stop yourself from eating it, that is.) I'm just mad I didn't get abanana pudding.
